Northern Flicker

Amethyst hung a suet feeder in the tree outside my office. Several Steller's Jays and Northern Flickers figured out how to balance themselves and have a bite to eat. They are fairly nice sized birds (11-14 inches in length). I have never seen them up close.

The pictures are a bit soft focus since I had to quietly shoot through the screen door window with the door open only six inches.
